Well done to the winners of October's Head of Year awards! Here are the reasons they were chosen...
Year 7
Sam
Sam was nominated for his exceptional attitude towards school life. He has gone above and beyond expectations in lessons and his teachers have noticed his kind, respectful attitude towards others. He has amassed an impressive 175 positive points this year so far and received a positive postcard for brilliant work in Geography. He is an asset to the year group!
Tegan
Tegan has been nominated for her consistent kindness towards all students and staff. She can often be found helping others, whether it is staying behind to help tidy resources for teachers or checking in on how people are doing. She truly applies herself to all of our expectations at Hermitage Academy: she is respectful, responsible and resilient. Tegan does not just excel in her attitude towards others, she also puts in 100% effort in lessons too, which has been rewarded in particular in Drama! Well done, Tegan!
Year 8
Harrison
Harrison has continued his excellent start to Year 8. Harrison is a sociable young man who is an asset to the Year 8 community, he is always willing to contribute both inside and outside of the classroom. For the month of October Harrison's behaviour for learning has been outstanding. He has accumulated a fantastic 75 positive points, which is the 2nd most across the year group. Harrison continually achieves positive points for attitude to learning, homework, organisation and attendance.
A brilliant effort for the month of October Harrison, well done on achieving the Head of Year Award. Keep up the good work!
Amelia
Amelia has continued her impressive start to Year 8. She is a polite young lady who has demonstrated a thorough and meticulous approach to her learning.
Teachers of Amelia comment that she is organised with homework and always punctual to lessons. Amelia has also managed 100 percent attendance since returning to school this academic year. Amelia's attitude to learning has also been a significant strength, she has accumulated a fantastic 85 points in October, which is part of the massive 175 points she has totalled since September. A brilliant month Amelia, well done on achieving the Head of Year Award for October. Keep up the good work!
Year 9
Nieve
Nieve is a well valued member of the year group, always there to give a helping hand, and has had a great month in Year 9.She is a vibrant member of our school council, who are currently organising events for Children in Need. Nieve is performing well across the curriculum, picking up positive points in a wide range of subjects, her favourite subject is Art and has just been awarded with a lapel pin for her excellence in Technology. Keep up the great work Nieve!
George
George is a well-liked, polite and hardworking student in the year group. He has been performing well across the board in Year 9, receiving positives in a wide range of subjects. George's favourite subject is PE and he has recently been awarded a lapel pin for his superb efforts in PE. George has also been awarded a lapel pin in History for his excellent use of explanation and analysis. Well done George.
Year 10
Jamie
Since Year 7 Jamie has been an amazingly dedicated and motivated student. He commits himself 100% to his studies in all subjects but really enjoys IT and Food Technology. He has an amazing 138 achievement points so far this term and has been awarded a subject lapel pin for his attitude to learning in Food Technology. Excellent work Jamie as always. Well done.
Sara
Sara is an incredibly hard-working student and has been since she joined the Academy in Year 7. Sara is a confident but quiet student, she has many friends and can always be relied upon to represent the form class, the year group and the Academy. Whilst Sara is making excellent progress in already lessons, she particularly enjoys Media and Geography. Keep up this excellent standard Sara and well done!
Year 11
Lola
Lola is an absolute delight to have in Year 11 and has excelled in her KS4 studies. She has already achieved a distinction grade in the written part of her Hospitality and Catering course, and she is showing an excellent attitude to learning in all of her subjects, whilst currently achieving the highest amount of positive EASI points in the year group. Lola is extremely gifted and talented in the Performing Arts. Proficient in ballet, modern and tap dancing, Lola is also a member of Sage Academy of Performing Arts in Newcastle, sings in our school voices group and dances in school productions and shows. She is currently preparing for an audition at a performing arts school in Sunderland for her Post-16 studies. Good luck Lola!
Ben
Ben has been an outstanding member of the year group since he joined Hermitage Academy 5 years ago. Without fail, Ben arrives to school on time, well dressed and equipped, with a positive attitude and desire to learn. Ben receives a high amount of positive EASI points, and his hard work was reflected in achieving amazing grades in his Year 10 exams. Ben is a polite and pleasant student and is well-liked by his peers and his teachers. He is mature and responsible and an excellent role model for our younger students. We are so pleased that Ben is wanting to stay at Hermitage Academy for 6th Form, and would like to study History, Geography and Maths. You will be amazing Ben!
